Senbetsu (selection)
It’s July, selection everyday for all breeders!
Selection criteria differ from variety to variety. However, at the first selection, after culling out malformed koi and plain colored koi, the total number of young koi is reduced to between 10 and 20 percent from the beginning. The second, third or fourth selections will be done while the qualities and patterns of markings are examined during the summer time.
