The 10th Tohoku Hokkaido Young Koi Show

Hiroshi Watanabe wins with his male Goshiki!

The show took place at Nanohana Hall in Irorinosato Michinoeki Mikawa, on June 6, 2021. Mr. Kazuya Sato of BEST Co., Ltd. and Mr. Zheng Cheng Zhi of Kinsho Co., Ltd. served as judges.A Goshiki in the 55 bu class suppressed its strong rival, mostly Gosanke varieties, and became the grand champion, which is the first achievement for a Goshiki to win in the history of this show. This Goshiki is bred by Marujyu Koi Farm in Niigata, and Akita Kanshogyo Center in Akita worked as its agent for this show. Mr. Watanabe bought the Goshiki at Marujyu Koi Farm two years ago. The Goshiki has classical markings with mesh patterned Sumi markings covering red Hi markings. Mr.Watanabe said, “Recently I haven’t seen such classical markings like this Goshiki has. I like that.” It was raised in Marujyu Koi Farm’s field pond and then Mr.Watanabe raised it in his 50ton indoor pond for one year before entering this show.

RINKO Online
Author: RINKO Online

RINKO was published in 1962 as the first Nishikigoi magazine in the world. Dr Takeo Kuroki organized Oita Airinkai (koi club) with 53 members. He wrote the most articles which were written on A5 size paper, printed in black and white and 28 pages long with his wife’s artwork on the front cover. When Dr Kuroki met our founder Shuji Fujita, they consulted on publishing his first book “Nishikigoi”. This created hundreds and thousands of “koi-kichi” (koi lovers/people crazy about koi). Their work together resulted in the success of RINKO Issue 15, the first cover printed in color. Since then their journey of introducing Nishikigoi culture to the world has blossomed.
